Once the cold porcelain has dried it won't go bad however if store unused cold porcelain too long it can start to mold because of the water in it.

I sell my work for a living, I really can't give you all my secrets and of course I would prefer if you bought my sculpture instead of trying to replicate it.

If you are interested in learning to sculpt in polymer clay I would direct you to Katherine Dewey's fabulous sculpting book Creating Life-Like Animals in Polymer Clay for a good introduction to the techniques involved.

Hi, I made cold porcelain recently yesterday and I tried adding oil and a small amount of water but whenever I try to shape it, the clay falls apart and it isn't stretchy. I think it was because I heated it up too much and I put cornstarch after I heated it because it looked mushy... so now I have a dry cold porcelain. Do you think there's a way to fix this?

Thanks!

Alright, I Have been experienced with ceramic clay at school. But I wanna try to make dolls, babies, elves, fairies, etc. I want to make them flexible almost like ball-jointed. I want to be able to pose them and hold a fall. Is this possible with polymer clay? I am very new at this. I have been trying with ceramic clay ( I know its breaks under pressure ) to make little statues. I like sculpting very much. Is there any advice you can give me?
Thanks

You can use TLS as a glaze either before or after baking (though you have to bake a second time if you apply it after a first bake). However TLS doesn't give a shiny finish, it's more matte to satin finish. What I've found it particularly good for is as a realistic skin finish for sculptures, use light washes of acrylic paint over a flash toned clay to give it some depth (for example a little pink to cheeks and lips) then a glaze of TLS to seal it.

If you want really shiny finishes though you need to go with an acrylic varnish.

I was wondering,

Could you use TLS as a glaze for that shiny after effect?
Also,
if you can, do you apply it before or after you bake it??
Thanks so much :)
