Odin’s Runesong
Mixed Media Fantasy Sculpture
Click each image below for full sized version.
Subject: Fantasy / Mythology
Medium: Super sculpey, wire, pine plaque
Size: Tree is 24 inches (61 cm), Odin is 12 inches (30.5 cm) feet to head.
Date: September 2007.
Description: Based on the poem from the Poetic Edda. If you would like to read the full poem click here: Odin’s Runesong. To sum it up, Odin sacrificed himself to himself by hanging for nine days and nights on the world tree Yggdrasil in order to gain the secret of the runes. This is my interpretation of that scene based on a resurection suspension.

This is amazing. Resurrection suspension seems so awfully difficult.

Very different and interesting interpretation of the god.
What will you do with the original?
